Over the last 15 months, the Google Internet Bus has travelled in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and now continuing its journey in Punjab and Haryana. Google Internet Bus continues its journey across India giving many people their first-ever experience of the Internet.
The response during the first few weeks has been very heartening with over 40,000 visitors experiencing the Internet on board. The Google Internet Bus will tour 15 cities across the two states over the next 40 days and focus on four themes – education, information, communication and entertainment. The Google Internet Bus will use interactive content in three languages - Punjabi, English and Hindi - to highlight how people can use the Internet in their daily lives.
Google has also learned from this initiative, the recently launched Virtual Keyboard on the Hindi Homepage is aimed at making it easier for first time users to search for information on the Internet.
Users across India can follow the bus through its journey, see pictures, videos, and join online communities by simply visiting http://www.google.co.in/internetbus.
